Take out the full bag

Do this when a red exclamation mark shows on the front panel, or when we ask you to take the trash bag out.

  1. Move the white step away from the front of the box.
  2. Pull the drawer out from the bottom.
  3. Close the bag up and take it out.
What we say in the video

“Okay, if you see a red exclamation mark here, or if we tell you to take the trash bag, this is what you do. You move this out, take this out and just close it up. I’m going to do that now.”

Lay out a new bag

Right after the full bag is out.

  1. Open a new bag and lay it out in the empty drawer.
  2. Find the two ends of the bag.
  3. Tuck the ends into the edge of the drawer so they stay put.
What we say in the video

“Okay, you’re gonna lay out the new bag like this. The ends are here, and then you make sure they tuck in here.”

Tuck it in and close up

The last step. The light tells you it worked.

  1. Press the bag flat inside the drawer.
  2. Tuck in the other end the same way.
  3. Slide the drawer back into the box.
  4. The warning light goes off. That’s it.
What we say in the video

“Like this. Let’s place it flat. Then we just tuck in the other end. Just put it back in. And the light will go. That’s it.”

Where things are

Spare bags

For when you need a new bag for the drawer.

  1. Look on the floor beside the brown-and-white checkered cushion.
  2. The rolls of replacement bags are in the white paper pack.
What we say in the video

“These are the replacements of the trash bags.”

Top-up

Add more litter

For when the litter in the box needs a top-up.

  1. Find the blue bag of cat litter kept next to the box. It is already open.
  2. Pour a good amount in through the round opening.
What we say in the video

“…is going to be kept here, around here. This is their litter, so it’s going to be open. Just pour a bunch of it in there.”

Food

Wet food is at 5 PM every day: one can for each cat.

Every day · 5 PM

Wet food

Feed them at 5 PM. One can for each cat, so two cans.

  1. Take two cans from the cardboard box on the floor.
  2. Open each can and put the food out in a dish.
  3. Throw the empty cans in the trash.
What we say in the video

“This is a wet food to feed in the evening. It’s one can each kitty. Just open this up, put it out in the dish. I’ll show you where the dishes are, and throw the cans in the trash.”

Where things are

Their dishes

The two round dishes with a fish on them.

  1. Look first on the kitchen floor, where they sit clean and ready.
  2. If they are not there, look up by the kitchen sink.
What we say in the video

“These are their dishes. They are going to be either here, clean, or up here.”

Water

The fountain looks after itself. You only step in if it runs dry.

Only if it runs out

Water fountain

Normally you don’t need to do anything. If you notice the water ran out:

  1. Unplug the fountain, wherever it is plugged in.
  2. Once it is off, lift the steel top up from the round end.
  3. You will see where the water goes. Just add water.
  4. Put the top back on and plug it in again.
What we say in the video

“This is the water. You don’t need to do anything. If you notice it ran out, you can unplug this, wherever it is plugged in, and you can lift it up from here after it’s turned off. And you will see the water coming, and you can just add it.”

If there’s a mess

Puke or anything to clean up

Everything is together on the floor, next to the cardboard box.

  1. Grab the striped rags and the roll of tissue paper.
  2. Use the spray bottle to spray the spot.
  3. Wipe it up.
What we say in the video

“If you notice any puke or anything you want to clean up, there is the rags and tissue paper, and just use this to spray it on.”

Good to know

How they play

  • Billi: drag the fishing-pole toy left and right along the floor.
  • Silly: hold the fishing-pole toy overhead and wave it left and right.
  • They both love chasing toys. Leave the tunnels out of play for now; see the note at the top.

Where they hide

  • Check inside the tunnel first.
  • Silly also likes the space under the bedside table.
  • She may also be in a closet, under the green couch, or under the basket in the corner by the TV.

Food & litter

  • They’ve already been fed. Dry food and water are out.
  • The litter box cleans itself. Keep an eye on it while it cycles; it stops automatically if a cat goes inside.

Cuddles

  • Both cats love being petted.
  • Silly is a shoulder cat and may climb up to sit with you.
  • Billi will stay nearby and ask when he wants pets.

Around the house

  • They can roam around the whole house.
  • For fresh air, use only the bedroom window behind the screen. Secure the screen cover firmly with the Velcro before opening the window, then check that there are no gaps.
  • Scratching the couch or other furniture is okay.
